Baby and Christening gifts goes Live!
Local Hexham businesswoman Sarah Walsh has just launched her second online venture offering a beautiful range of keepsakes for baby and christening gifts. Sarah started her first business over 5 years ago hand crafting framed names and personalised prints www.framednames.co.uk. The idea for Baby and Christening gifts grew from her years of experience making her personalised gifts as Sarah commented;
I decided to leave my part time job and focus on expanding the business
“over the past few years we noticed that many of our framed names were being bought as gifts celebrating new births but also many for christenings and naming day ceremonies. We’ve had fantastic feedback from our customers who have told us how much they love the gifts as they offered something a bit different and unique yet personal and were great keepsakes. With this is mind, I decided to leave my part time job and focus on expanding the business to offer other gifts ideas from British companies”
Baby and Christening Gifts was launched in November 2011 with the aim of offering a wider range of beautiful keepsake gifts to celebrate new births and special occasions. Sarah still makes her gorgeous framed names and personalised prints but has personally selected some simply stunning items from other UK companies to provide you with a greater choice. HEXHAM DENTIST
Hexhams Family Dentist gets a Makeover
I have been lucky enough to work in Hexham since I qualified from Newcastle University in 1988. I began working alongside Peter Davidson in St.Mary’s Chare providing all aspects of general dentistry. Upon Peter’s retirement in 1995 I took over the running of the practice and we have been continuing to grow ever since. In 1999 we moved to our present, larger premises on Battle Hill in the heart of Hexham.
Our current team of dental professionals at Battle Hill Dental Practice have been together for over 10 years, give or take the odd spot of maternity leave, providing a real sense of continuity of care for our patients.
Over the past 20 years, as well as happily providing routine dental care for our adult and child patients, my main two dental interests have been developing my knowledge and skill level in orthodontics (tooth straightening in both adults and children) and providing cosmetic treatments to improve our patients’ smiles !
” We’ve all been working very hard over the past couple of months along with Terry from TWDA , Hexham website design company to produce what we think is a bright, informative and easy to navigate website for all of our customers to have a look around to fully appreciate all of the services and treatments that we offer at Battle Hill Dental Practice ( hence forward, for blog use, to be known as BHDP!)
“…happily providing routine dental care for our adult and child patients…”
We would very much appreciate feedback from all of you as to how this website may be improved and indeed how our overall service can be improved to ensure our customer reviews in our recent patient post treatment survey, as reflected on our customer service website page, are fulfilled and even taken up a notch!
Feedback can be left via the link on this blog page, via the link on the website contact page or via our suggestion box placed conveniently in reception – all views welcome!”

Memory Problems & Dementia
Chrysalis at Tynedale is a fantastic club run by volunteers for active people with memory problems or dementia. Too often people in the early stages of dementia are overlooked, when in fact all they might need is a little support to be able to learn new things, continue their hobbies and have a laugh with other people.
Members choose what they want to do – including art, music, gardening, leatherwork or woodwork – and pay £10 for a tutored session with support from volunteers. Family members or friends can join in, or grab some guilt-free time to themselves. There are trips and singing sessions too. Chrysalis is for anyone in Northumberland who has memory problems and is able to enjoy activities.

Slaters Fun Fair at the Mart in Hexham
Slaters travelling fun fair is now at the Mart down in Tyne Green.
A great little fare, brilliant for the little ones. Lot’s of gentle little rides for the smaller kids as well as a good selection of stomach turning rides for the bigger kids.
The fair will be down at hexham Auction Mart till the 22 nd of October.
One good tip is to get a copy of the HexhamCourant , look at the back page of the second supplement and cut out the advert. Each advert has ten ride tokens, each token saving you 50p off the £1.50 price per ride.
We went down on Sunday late afternoon, thinking that the parking on the Tyne Green would rammed we opted to park in Tesco’s, as it turned out there was plenty of room to part so need need to trek over the bridge.
Be Careful!
The ground has been covered in some rather rough hardcore stone, some of the lumps are more than big enough to stub a toe or buckle a push chair wheel.

GELSON OSTEOPATHIC GOES LIVE!
Did you know that around 30,000 people currently consult osteopaths every working day!
Although osteopaths treat many conditions, most people think of them as ‘back specialists’. Back pain is what many osteopaths treat a lot of the time.
Osteopathic treatment does not target symptoms only but treats the parts of the body that have caused the symptoms. Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good structural balance.
Imagine, for example, a car that has one of its front wheels not quite pointing straight. It may run well for a while, but after a few thousand miles, the tyre will wear out. You can apply this example to the human body, which is why it is so important to keep the body in good balance.
The new Gelson Osteopathic website was designed by local design firm www.twda.co.uk based in Hexham.
“When we were approached to redesign the Gelson Osteopathic website we were eager to produce a design that really suited the clinic, a web design that was professional, friendly and trustworthy. The clients response to the new design was great, a real pleasure to work with! “ – Terence Walsh – TWDA.co.uk
Hair By Jobi – Hexham
Working with hair for 40 years!
Jobi & Co. founded 1990 and located in Hexham since 1998.
Never one to miss a good deal Jobi had heard about the £375 Starter pack offered by “Hexham Card” & TWDA as part of the local initiative to get Hexham based businesses online.
“Terry (TWDA) just made the whole thing so easy! I’m by no means a computer person and had been slightly nervous about computer speak and being over charged. But via Hexhamcard Terry came in with a great price, came up with a great design, arranged a photo shoot and even gave advice about using our customer list to create a newsletter to encourage customers into the salon. I’d be more than happy to recommend TWDA!” - Jobi, Director
